Ashwin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT-Madras. Ashwin has been involved with entrepreneurship and social enterprises for over a decade now, starting his journey with helping kick-off an internet-based company in Silicon Valley in the late 1990s. He is also on the board of the Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIT-Madras, and is a co-founder of Okapi Research and Advisory.
Bharti Gupta Ramola was a partner at PwC during 1992-2017. She co-promoted the Basix group of Social Enterprises. She currently serves on the Boards of HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd, SRF Ltd and Feedback Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. She is also a part of the governing body of the Lady Shriram College and Advisory Council of Transform Rural India (a Tata Trust initiative).
Dimple, a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of professional experience, was a founder staff member of Teach For India and spent nearly a decade there as CFO. She is also a founder partner of Tatha Partners, a firm that is passionate about creating and implementing sustainable and enduring systems for startups and social enterprises. Dimple is an independent consultant to many NGOs including ISLI, Atma etc. Prior to TFI, Dimple worked in the Travel and Logistics industry in organisations like Cleartrip.com, Kuoni Travel (Indi)Pvt. Ltd, FedEx etc.
Paul Basil is the Founder and former CEO of Villgro Innovations Foundation and an Ashoka Fellow. Over the last decade, Paul and Villgro have incubated hundreds of innovative enterprises.
He is the co-founder & Partner of Menterra, an impact investment fund.
An Ashoka fellow, Paul, is also the founder of Impact Innovators and Entrepreneurs Foundation (IIEF), a US-based organisation that promotes the Villgro model in other countries in Africa and South East Asia.
Paul was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2002 for his outstanding social entrepreneurship in setting up Villgro. He has also been conferred the Samaj Seva Bhushan Award and the Star Entrepreneur Award.
A mechanical engineer by training and post-graduate in forestry management, Paul lives in Chennai, India with his family.
R.Ramaraj is a serial entrepreneur who has been involved in ventures in IT, cellular and Internet. His last venture was Sify, where he was the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.Sify was the first Indian Internet Company from India to list on NASDAQ National Market in the US (NASDAQ –SIFY).He was recognized as the ‘Evangelist of the Year’ at the India Internet World Convention in September2000 and was also voted the IT Person of the year 2000 and in 2001, in a CNET.com poll in India.
Shalini works in the area of innovation and change and runs a consulting firm Infinity OD, that focuses on developing innovation as a competence. In a career spanning about 25 years, she has worked with both Indian and global organizations specializing in organizational development and change. She has a PhD in Organizational Change from UCLA and a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad. Before becoming an entrepreneur she was the Director HR at Deutsche Bank and CHRO at Escorts Agri-Machinery.
Ananth leads Villgro's Climate Action practice. His career spans over two decades of technology development, product R&D and most recently, deployments of technology-driven social impact programs. Ananth was one of the chief architects responsible for the creation of the SELCO Foundation which looks into the use of renewable energy and sustainable technologies in the fields of education, agriculture and livelihood generation. Ananth has an Engineering degree from Bangalore University and was a fellow with Said Business School, University of Oxford.
Jenaan is a development practitioner with over 14 years of experience working with for-profit and non-profit social enterprises. At Villgro, she oversees Strategic Partnerships, Diversity & Inclusion, Impact Measurement & Learning, and Organization Development. Prior to Villgro, she helped develop CSR strategies for medium to large businesses. She spent the formative years of her career working in public health towards HIV/AIDS prevention amongst high-risk groups, and improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes for commercial sex workers and women in urban-slum settlements.
Jenaan is passionate about supporting the economic resilience of minority communities and is an Advisor to young Muslim women through the LedBy Foundation. She is also an Advisor on AVPN’s Youth Opportunities Platform where she mentors young entrepreneurs across Asia.
Srinivas Ramanujam is passionate about scaling up SGBs that have the potential to create impact at scale. He brings two decades of experience across multiple sectors and the networks to solve ecosystem level issues in the sectors of healthcare, climate action, agriculture and gender inclusion.
Srinivas engages closely with the Govt. of India in nurturing social entrepreneurship and advocating for greater participation by commercial capital providers in this space. He serves as an Executive Steering Committee Member at Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs. Additionally, he volunteers as a Committee member for Startup Showcase at Startup India and as a Technical Expert for BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council).
Abishek works with the Climate Action Team at Villgro and is a post-graduate of IÉSEG School of Management, France. He has 3 years of experience working in the development and corporate sector in research and project implementation. His previous stint in the development sector was with CSRBox where he managed skill development projects as well as impact assessments across South India. Abishek is keenly interested in social entrepreneurship and will be working on the Waste to Value & Circular Economy-related initiatives here at Villgro.
Agomoni manages Program Partnerships & Fundraising at Villgro. She has led & managed projects to collectively scale neurodiversity livelihood inclusion at workplaces during her tenure at Enable India. Prior to this, she led product strategy, market research & business development during her stints at Spectra Agritec, an SME in agriculture/plant science instrumentation and Ciber Inc. (now HTC Global Services). Agomoni is a Post-Graduate in Management, a B.Ed in Special Education and a Graduate in Zoology. She is a Board Member at Diya Foundation. She is a voracious reader, an explorer, an ardent animal lover, and a budding gardener.
She has previously worked with the India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians, Ministry of External Affairs, and the UN Women, where her work involved communications and programme management. She has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Philosophy from the University of Delhi.

Anshu is a Senior Analyst - a part of the Health Team at Villgro. Prior to this, she worked as a Program Officer at Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer, IIT-Delhi and as a Management Intern at DBT-BIRAC where she worked in Make In India Biotechnology Facilitation Cell and also assisted with the Biotechnology Ignition Grant program.Apart from her incubation experience, Anshu has exposure to diagnostics and research. She has worked on various neurobiology and developmental biology projects at NCCS, Pune in collaboration with CSIR-NCL Pune and published her research. She has also worked as an Application Manager in the Immunology Division of Jain Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, Delhi. She holds an M.Tech in Biotechnology from D Y Patil University, Mumbai.
Anubha supports social entrepreneurs at Villgro in building gender-inclusive business strategies across their value chains. She is a development professional with prior experience in micro enterprises at Kudumbashree – National Resource Organization and has worked with 12 states across India to promote entrepreneurship amongst women’s community networks in rural areas. She also serves as a board member of Vitamin Angels, India. She holds a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and is an alumnus of Initiatives of change (IofC), Switzerland. She is an avid dancer, likes to paint and tries her hand at poetry in her free time.
Devansh has previously worked with a-IDEA NAARM where his primary responsibilities involved designing and managing Agri Udaan, a prominent Food, and Agribusiness Accelerator. He has also handled incubation programs, portfolio monitoring, seed-fund, and grant-in-aid processes for a-IDEA.
He has a PGDM-International Business from FORE School of Management and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University.
He likes to spend his spare time cooking and experimenting with food fermenting techniques.
Deshna is a graduate of B.A. (Hons) in Public Administration with a Diploma in Liberal Studies, encompassing strong academic research. Her passion for social impact led her to gain two years of experience in the development sector through a fellowship with Goonj, and by interning with organizations such as the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), Working Group for Women and Land Ownership (WGWLO), Aga Khan Rural Support Program India (AKRSPI) and Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). During her 6-month long internship with AVPN, she helped develop a platform to empower young impact leaders in Asia and supported 100+ women-led enterprises across five regions of Asia through a capacity-building program. Her interest in impact investing led her to work with Villgro as an Analyst in the Climate Action Team. In her free time, Deshna loves to volunteer for social causes, learn new languages on Duolingo, and bicycle her way around a city.
Gowtham works as an Analyst with Villgro’s Climate Action practice. Prior to this, he worked with the founding team of Teach For India, Bengaluru as the Alumni Impact and Fundraising Associate. He was also a Teach for India Fellow at an Affordable Private School in Hyderabad and has also been with Infosys as a Systems Engineer. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore.
Harish is an Incubation Manager (Health) at Villgro. Previously, he was the Program Coordinator for the BIRAC SPARSH program at Atal Incubation Center – CCMB, Hyderabad, one of the leading AICs in the country. Prior to this, he worked as the Associate Manager - Programs at DERBI, Bangalore where he coordinated the execution of the NIDHI-Accelerator program. He also has experience in business development and lab infrastructure management during his stint at Vipragen Biosciences and Bangalore Bioinnovation Center respectively. Harish has a BE in Biotechnology from Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
Heera heads the Technology program at Villgro, she manages the IT portfolio, internal systems, products, websites and also enables process management. She has over a decade of experience in the IT industry having worked with Cognizant Technology Solutions and subsequently moving into the consulting space, working with start-ups helping them to manage their tech program, enabling them to focus on their core business areas effectively. Heera has a Masters degree in Computer Applications from Madras University.
An environmental engineer by qualification, Kalyani's passion for impactful work started with the TeachforIndia Fellowship. Post the fellowship, she briefly worked in the education space, before shifting gears to the startup & incubation ecosystem. She has 6 years of experience in content development & program management. She has closely worked with tech & social innovators of IITMs Rural Technology Business Incubator for 2.5 years before moving to work at TANSIM(StartupTN) (Tamilnadu's State nodal agency for entrepreneurship). During her free time, Kalyani loves to read-particularly fictional & mythology, brush up on dance lessons and learn to master mandala art.
Krati works as a Senior Analyst with the Climate Action Team at Villgro, managing portfolio for the Sustainable Building Material startups. Previously, she has worked with academic research, policy think tanks, and implementation organizations, like CARBSE CEPT University, CPR, and SELCO Foundation, trying to find answers on how to integrate energy-efficient technology solutions into last-mile implementation strategies for the development of marginalized communities. Krati is also an ex-fellow of the Urban Fellowship Program at IIHS.
Krati is a sustainability enthusiast, trying to find equilibrium between environment vs development challenges.
Krithika works as a Consultant - Analyst with the Agribusiness Team. Her interest in working with Agri startups brings her to Villgro. Prior to this, she worked with EY GDS as an Assurance Associate and was involved in various processes of conducting Financial Statement audits.
She holds a Bachelors's degree in Commerce from Ethiraj College.
Maithili manages the Villgro Agribusiness portfolio and investments. She has 6 years of experience in the FMCG, heavy industry and social sectors. She has worked with Hindustan Unilever and the Essar group. Following her passion for the social impact space, she joined Saahas Zero Waste, a socio-environmental start-up. She holds a BA in Economics (Hons) from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
Azhar leads the Government and Public Sector Initiatives & Incubating Incubators program at Villgro. He is a development professional with experience in investing in 137 social startups and 486 micro-rural businesses. He is an Advisor and part of the Executive Committee in some of the Indian-based incubators. Previously he has worked with the Government of India & the UK Government in multiple development projects focussing on entrepreneurship & financial inclusion.
Oshin works with Villgro's Government and Public Sector Initiatives team. Previously, she worked with Khan Academy, as part of their partnerships and marketing team where she worked with partners like Govt. of Karnataka, CmF, Swiggy, Dunzo, and HUL and helped build a product to provide education as a benefit to their workforce through WhatsApp. She has experience working as an RA with organisations like Polstrat, TRIFED and FemLab by IDRC and was also part of the founding team of an ed-tech startup. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Hyderabad Central University. In her free time, she's looking for new bakeries in town, reading or struggling to play her ukelele.
Parul comes from a social innovation and economics background. She holds a Masters in Sustainable Development Practices from TERI University, Delhi and Masters in Public Policy and Human Development from Maastricht University (UNU- MERIT), The Netherlands.
Prior to joining Villgro, Parul worked as a Senior Associate- Research in Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions where she was contributing towards 'measuring the impact of government interventions targeted towards vulnerable communities across North India'. Over the years she has worked extensively across 10 states to create livelihood opportunities for vulnerable communities on the ground.
Pragati is an Associate in the Program Partnerships team at Villgro. Prior to this, she worked in Sattva Consulting where she developed knowledge reports and thought leadership content across several development sectors. She has also interned in public policy units in IIM Ahemdabad and ISB Hyderabad. She is a Chemical Engineering Graduate from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
Prashanth has 6 years of experience in the NGO sector. He previously worked with Sense International India as a Manager - Finance and TB Alert India as Finance & Administration Officer.
In his free time he enjoys watching cricket and playing chess.
Pratim has almost six years of experience in the development sector in the energy access space. His key area of interest lies in the intersection of innovation energy & entrepreneurship. Prior to this, at SELCO Foundation, he was involved in R&D of decentralised renewable energy-based technology and business models for a variety of applications including livelihood. He is an Engineer and holds a Masters degree in Public Systems Management with Energy specialisation from Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata.
Rohang works with the Ecosystem Development team at Villgro. He has previously worked with the Centre for Studies in Gender and Sexuality, Ashoka University and interned with One Future Collective, Sanofi D.C. working at the intersections of Gender, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Social impact.
He is a Young India Fellow from Ashoka University with a P.G.D in Liberal Arts and holds an undergraduate degree in Pharmaceutical sciences.
In his leisure time, he enjoys illustrating, reading and curating photo-essays.
Dr. Roshan has been associated with the startup and innovation ecosystem for the last 7 years. He was responsible for setting up and managing the DST-supported technology business incubator at VJTI, Mumbai as its CEO. Earlier he worked with the Atal Incubation Center at NMIMS and DST & DBT-funded Venture Center, the incubator at CSIR-NCL. Prior to these assignments, he was managing the IPR Department at National Innovation Foundation, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
He has so far worked closely with over 100 startups from various backgrounds including healthcare, engineering, agriculture, veterinary and rural innovations. He holds a bachelor's degree in Microbiology and a master's in Human Genetics. He completed his doctoral thesis in reproductive biology from ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai and pursued a post-doctoral fellowship in infectious diseases at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Maryland, USA. He has published research and review articles in peer-review journals with over 1200 citations.
Shashikanth has ten years of experience in the impact and business development sector. His key area of interest lies in the intersection of entrepreneurship and rural livelihood generation. Prior to this, at S3IDF, he was involved in managing the Agri portfolio, incubating Farmer Producer Companies from various agro-climatic zones
He is an Industrial Engineer and an avid birder. He is also a part of the
hobby birding group in Bangalore called “Hakki Pukka Bird Conservation Network” which conducts Bird Festivals in rural government schools.
Shivang is a Chartered Accountant from Pune and has previously worked with KPMG for over 2 years; before making a transition to the social impact space with Rang De - a social impact startup. Shivang is passionate about social entrepreneurship and solving societal problems via innovations.
Sonal is a part of the Healthcare team at Villgro and works on the portfolio for startups in Sexual and Reproductive Health. She has previously worked in program design and impact consulting with Sattva and Consult for Humanity. Prior to that, she worked in analytics and pharmaceutical market research with ZS Associates. She is a management graduate from St, Xavier’s College, Mumbai with a keen interest in social impact and last-mile innovations.
Sreejith is an experienced professional in the Climate Action space and oversees the Powering Livelihoods Program at Villgro. He possesses expertise in decentralised renewable energy solutions — accrediting to his 12-year experience in the renewable energy sector and 2 years in the software industry!
Previously he has provided functional support to start-ups in the energy sector, and energy management consultancy to small scale livelihood enterprises. His interests lie in Energy Management, Social Entrepreneurship, Project Management, Solar PV and Energy Storage!
Vibha is a Chartered Accountant and has passed CFA Level III from CFA Institute USA. She has a diverse set of work experiences - working with MNCs - the likes of British Gas, Schlumberger and social organizations such as - FWWB, Unltd India and KFI Valley School. She is passionate about social impact, incubation & investing and is excited about the endless possibilities social innovations harbour to create social impact. In her free time, Vibha binge watches television romcoms, indulges in cooking, walks and spends time with her daughters. She is an animal lover and loves gardening!
