When we conceptualized Unconvention in 2009, there was a pressing need for avenues where social entrepreneurs could come together. Much has changed since then. There is greater understanding of the space today and that reflects in the quality of ideas we come across. At Villgro, we take pride in the progress we have been able to make with Unconvention and in the realization that we have played a small part in shaping the ecosystem that exists today.
As we look back at the year that was for Unconvention, it gives us great joy to see the number and quality of business plans we came across, beyond the traditional startup hubs of the country. In the infographic below, we have tried to tell a story in numbers.
From 500 of these pitches, 10 social enterprises won. We rewarded their possibilities- of impact, of growth, and of profit!
Oh, and before we forget, Unconvention will soon be back in a bigger avatar than before. That’s all we are revealing at this point. Watch this space for more.
